It’s not like I need another jacket, but this one just looks so comfy and soft. Perfect for this cold weather.
It’s officially less then a month till christmas. Which means thats its less then a month till Santa comes around. There is a few things that I hope will lay under my christmas tree. Even if I need to buy it myself 😉
Since I hopefully will be starting competitions in January this bag would be perfect. They actually don’t sell it in the Netherlands as far as I could find, but you can find it online here.
2. Eskadron Platinum Sweat rug
I’ve been wanting this rug since I first laid my eyes on the collection, but considering Mr.Grumpy has enough rugs from here to Tokyo I haven’t managed to find an excuse yet that would justify me buying it. Can be found here.
3. Eskadron Fetlock boots
I have the front leg versions of these ones, but not the backlegs hence why their on the list. Can be bought here.
4. Clincher browband
I don’t know how long I’ve looked for the right clincher browband and yet I haven’t found the perfect one that I want except for one that doesn’t get made anymore. But this one comes pretty close. Can be bought here(I didn’t come up with the price, I know its outrageous).
5. Schockemohle Colerado Stirrup leather
When I bought my saddle it came with new stirrups and stirrup leather. The only issue is that the leather is so useless, its really difficult to change the length if you are already sitting on the horse, so I am looking for some new ones. These ones from Schockemohle are pretty nice. Can be bought here.
6. Amerigo x Mattes dressage girth
In all honesty I should have just bought this one instead of the BR one, so now its on the christmas list(probably forever as I just realised the leather girth alone is 250 euro…). Love that it comes in black. The only thing is that you will have to buy the girth as well as the fur. Girth can be bought here and fur here.
So, that was my christmas list. Considering my family doesn’t have anything to do with horses, nor do they read this blog I will probably have to purchase it all by myself. haha.
So its time for another round of Same Same, but different. This time I’ve found two pairs of jodhpurs who are basically identical to each other, except for the price and brand of course.
The Harry’s horse smart airsystem can be bought HERE.
The Ariat heritage lace paddock 4lr can be bought HERE.
Both jodhpurs come in cow leather, shock absorbing, airy and waterproof(as far as leather boots are waterproof that is). But as you can see the price is pretty different at 90,- versus 160,- euro. In this round I actually think the version from Harry’s Horses win, I think it looks just a tad bit sleeker in a way. Which would you choose?
When I came to the stable today someone showed me this new trend that I had never heard of. Hoofies stickers.
It all lays in the name, it’s stickers that you put on the hoofs of your horse and they come in all kind of colors and prints. I must honestly say it’s not totally my thing, but I can imagine kids would love it. Specially if you have one you can draw on, perfect for kids parties.
For those in the Netherlands, you can buy them at Epplejeck.
You can call me boring, but riding breeches full of bling bling just aint for me. I’ve tried it, but I just can’t handle it. If you saw my clothing closet you would see a sea of grey, white and black. The few coloured items must have been bought while being asleep as I don’t wear them.
So below you got 10 breeches without bling bling, 5 with leather grip and 5 silicon grip. As per usual, if you click on the name you are directed to where you can buy them.
2. Montar Highwaist leather – 129. 95 euro
3. Easy Rider Abby – 89.95 euro
4. Eurostar Clair Leather – 170 euro
5. Easy Rider Abby – 89.95 euro
I’m considering buying the Easy Rider Abby one, it looks really comfy and the price is alright. I just wonder how the fabric is, I’m not so into the ones that feel like jogging pantsish. I’ve tried the ones from Montar, they have some kind of bamboo fabric, which feels kinda nice and soft on the skin, but is not for everyone.
1. Pikeur Candela FG – 209.95 euro
2. Pikeur Ophira – 157 euro
3. Eurostar Dafne fg – 130 euro
4. Eurostar Carina GF – 150 euro
5. Montar Highwaist FG – 134.95 euro
Not written in cooperation with Epplejeck, I was being lazy and it is the only webshop with proper photos.
Hope you find one you like, let me know which one!
Same same, but different will be a new line of posts where I find two products that look similar, but come at two completely different price points.
The first out is the “glitter” cap from Charles Owen YR8 and the Harry’s Horses Galaxy cap. I’ve seen both cap’s up close and must say they are both beautiful and well crafted. The first time I saw the one from Harry’s Horses I totally mistaken it for the one from Charles Owen.
Which one do you like the best?
Even tough I would like summer to last forever, it unfortunately doesn’t and winter is upon us. The weather man even told me that it will be as cold as 4c during the night next week. This means its time to look at winter rugs.
One can become dizzy when you look at all the rugs at the marked at the moment. There is so many different ones, depending on what you need. In this post I have chosen to look at winter stable rugs in different prices and grams. It will start at 50 gram and move upwards.
Here you can see a small temperature guide which can give you an indication on when to put on which rugs.
Please note that some of the rugs below have the option to be combinated with a liner, but I have chosen not to include this info and only focus on that specific rug. However if you are interested in these, then you should check out the websites of Bucas and Horseware as these are the two brands offering this at the moment. I personally do not like it as I’ve found that the liners end up sliding and not laying well.
I’ve chosen not to say which ones are best as everyone has a different preference, though Bucas and Horseware is known for being the best in the business, but it depends how nice your horse is to his/her rug and what type of style and needs you have. I personally use mostly Horseware Amigo as these fit well on Mr.Grumpy and price/duration is good. Of course there are plenty more brands and rugs out there then the rugs below, but these are the most common ones at the moment. By the way, surprises me that neither Eskadron or BR rugs are easy to find, they are available, but I’ve looked at 10 different sites and none of these were selling rugs from these two brands. Get your game on guys.
I will by the way do turnout rug guide for those horses living outside or being outside a lot in another post.

Hope you enjoyed the guide!
I do fully understand if you want to declear me as crazy for doing this, but at the end of the day, the crazy got it good they say. Haha
It’s literally a big plastic sheet with a loop at the back for the tail and in the front it has four closures. At first I thought Mr.Grumpy would react to the sound and the way it looked as it makes quite a lot of that plastic noise like a plastic bag that you crush together, but he was surprisingly calm and didn’t seem to care much.
It wasn’t raining when I put him in the walker, but I just wanted to check if the sides would fly up or if he would react, but again he was cool as a cucumber and just went on a little stroll.
I quickly noticed an issue though. Because there is no closure underneath the stomach, the sheet will slide down on one side and probably eventually fall off. So I will have to get creative and put in an elastic closure myself to stop it from sliding.
Overall it was totally worth the money, I will just have to fix the little problem with it sliding off. And no, this is not his normal turnout rug, this is only for when it’s raining and he needs to warm up in the walker before saddling up. If you want the same one it costs 11 euro at Agradi and the brand is Pro rider.
Now, before you read further, I will warn you. That woolen rug below costs a lovely 370 euro… so don’t blame me if you fall in love and can’t afford it.
Vestrum Equestrian is a brand I’ve started seeing popping up here and there lately. It has this Gucci feel to it and the prices definitely makes you feel like its Gucci. It hails from Italy and as far as I know it can only be bought at Koole ruitersport and Hypostore here in the Netherlands. They have performance clothing like competition jackets, normal equestrian clothes as well as bags and accessories for dogs and horses. Below you can see some of the selection they have.
I personally wouldn’t dare to put a 370 euro rug on Mr.Grumpy, but I guess if you have so much money that you can spend that amount on a rug you don’t care.
Currently Mr.Grumpy has to warm up in the walker before riding as it makes his muscles and back looser before you put your wheight on him. Of course this is no problem in the summer when the sun is shining, but having to do it in the winter when it’s poring down is another story.
So I had a think about what rug I could put on him while he warmed up. Generally I saddle him up before so both he and the saddle gets a bit warmed up. The only issue with that is that a saddle generally don’t fit under a turnout rug and you’ll end up ruining your saddle. I even had a laugh with some ladies at the stable the other day that I probably would have to make my own rug. I was even considering doing it, but then I came across the rug below:
At first I laughed it off, but it’s actually everything I need. The saddle fits perfectly under it and for 10 min in the walker it’s more then good enough. And the best thing about it? It was 11 euro at Agradi. 11 euro and then I even got a free magic brush with it. Oh happy days.
Since I was already ordering I also made sure to order new gloves. The ones I have literally smelled like rotten fish(sexy hey)and was full of holes so it was time for new ones.
The only ones that doesn’t give me loose tips on the end of my fingers. Can’t stand when that happens. My cat found them highly interesting as well, she wouldn’t go out of the photo.
